Kingston Church
Kingston, Illinois

Last year, we had the pleasure to make 2 visits to the Kingston Church. We enjoyed the people who came to listen to our talk and than stayed for the investigation. So we were pleased to be invited back. But it was a bittersweet day, as this church, which had been opened for 152 years, was closing its doors.  This Sunday, they were holding their last service. So many memories for those involved. But times can be hard for small, country churches, and sometimes there is little choice. So they decided to go out in style, and ended the day with a Halloween Party and ghost investigation.

Teri gave a presentation of the evidence the team had collected last year, during our investigations. You can review one of the investigations by clicking this link:   Kingston Church October   There was some very moving responses last year from the spirit box and ovilus, and many of the church members were comforted, as they had loved ones buried in the adjoining cemetery. The children present were judged on their costumes, followed by some games being played. Than it was time to head out the door to the cemetery. What would we find this year?

We broke into 2 groups, the kids and the adults, and each group worked their way towards the stones of their loved ones. The kids were exciting to watch as they received "hits" from their grandparents, as well as a few school mates who had already moved on. The investigation was not over yet, as after hot dogs and marshmallows cooked over an open fire, and stories shared, we ended the evening with an EVP session in the church. We had hoped to hear answers to questions directed to past church members as well as past board members.

We have had a wonderful time getting to know the members of this rural church. And we appreciate them allowing us to be a part of their final service. The end can sometimes be the beginning, and we hope that this is true for this incredible church, steeped in history, and now standing alone, possibly with the ghosts of those of long ago.

Many feet have walked this aisle, to sit in these pews.
If pews and walls could talk!
